Carmen Johnson [Uebergang]
Not long afterwards, she was conned into going to an event she really didn't want to go to with one of her sisters, and whilst sulking about being there, a certain knight in shining armour rescued her.
So Mandi, Ainslie, Meg and Nik the backpacking Canadian, had a mini-reunion at the infamous Uni house, and took a road trip to Carmen's hometown to watch her walk down the aisle, and to make sure the guy measured up.
Fortunately he did, kept both his kneecaps, and Carmen has now been happily
married to a guy called Damien Uebergang for six and a half years. No
shit. She's even quit smoking and drinks
Carmen and Damien have bought, lived in and resold several properties, and now live and work on the huge farm that was formally Damien's parents. The farm has potatoes, sheep and cattle. Carmen and Damien currently live in the original farmhouse, although their next plan is to build their dream home on the property. This is probably a good idea as Mr. and Mrs. Damien Uebergang also have a beautiful baby girl called Tahlia Paige, see photo, and Carmen's getting clucky for a second babe.
message 2005_08_06 Hi Eric great to hear from you. Sure you can add my details to the "GNet"
mailing list, it will be great to be back in contact again well after
all it has been 10 years. Hope you are doing well and are having fun in
whatever it is that you are doing, liefs carmen. Well hello everyone who hasn't heard from me since we all parted ways back in Holland '95, but yes here i am alive and well and living life to the full in Portland, Victoria Australia. If you want to know where that is get out your maps of Australia, find the state of Victoria (hovering on the coast just above tasmania,) and just back a little bit from the edge of the South Australian border is PORTLAND! Well that out of the way you're probably wondering 'what ever happened to that crazy Carmen, man was she weird, well here goes....
In about August '96 I finally got an apprenticeship in Portland (which was an hour away from where I was living in Warrnambool,) and moved to start my new career as a Hairdresser. There I met the most gorgeous man of my dreams, Damien Uebergang, and was hot on his tail no waiting to be pursued, I made the first move, and long story short were married in March '98 and to date have two beautiful children. Our daughter Thalia Paige was born 5 years after we were married, on June 18 2003 and just recently turned 2. She is the most active, full on, get into everything, talkative little girl I know! (must take after Damien...) and has the biggest brown eyes and beautiful blond curly ringlets you've ever seen. Thalia gets the curls from Damien. Then there is our beautiful son Bailey Hunter, who is 2 weeks old today. I was due on July the 14th but he was way too comfy and didn't make his appearance until 9 days later on Saturday the 23rd July at 10pm. Bailey was a big boy weighing 9lb 4.5oz and measured 51 cms long. He is a really good little boy feeding every 4 - 5 hrs and is too early to say whether he'll be active like his sister or a bit more placid like me - HA!.
Well currently we are living on Damien's parents farm after selling our house and looking for a new one. We are living rent free in his parents second house which is a benefit until we decide whether we should build or buy as we want to have a salon at home for me to work out of so that I can be working from home around the kids. Damien is the store manager of a retail timber and hardware store in town and is very busy working long hours and so when he does have time off we like to spend some family time at home or he likes to get out into his shed and do a bit of carpentry as his little hobby which he is getting really good at, making things like Kitchen furniture, coffee tables, toy boxes etc.. . Damien is turning 30 in a couple of weeks so I am bust trying to give him a surprise party, although I don't know whether I should or not as he really isn't a party-center-of-attention type of person. Reading over this I am realising that we don't sound like we have a lot in common, I suppose it's true that opposites attract.
Well that's my life run down so far , how about all of you guys? What ever happened to you when we first left the land of green. I'm sorry but I only have the email addresses for Eric and Drew so if you could, it would be great if you could pass this on to whoever else you guys have contact with so I can open up my channels of communication again. Unfortunately we won't be attending the reunion but wish all who are a safe and unforgettable time, have a drink for us Aussies! I would desperately love to hear how it goes and see some photos if there are any! A big Congratulations to everyone who has amazing news whether it be a new job, an engagement, wedding, baby, new house whatever!! Love to all from down here and keep in touch. Hope you are all fit and well. Carmen Uebergang (Johnson).
