I actually went to a tradeshow in Germany in May, and I was able to go back to Holland to visit my host families. Turns out one of my host fathers has his own TV show now and is like the Judge Judy of The Netherlands! Check out www.rijdenderechter.nl. When I was there, I got to attend a taping and sit in the audience, so look out for my Dutch television debut! It's actually the most boring show ever, but funny that my host dad is now a "Bekende Nederlander".
Anyway, I can't believe it has been 10 years!!! Crazy. 15 years old when I left, seems so young now. My year in Holland truly changed my life. I was so incredibly naive and sheltered going into it, and I came back a totally different person. It was difficult to relate to my high school friends, and I still think that there is something about people who have gone through this experience that makes us understand each other better.
Thanks again Eric for setting this up, and I look forward to hearing from everyone!
